One must bear in mind that to get to the area of the Salt Pans, one has to climb to a higher altitude than 3,500 meters above sea level, due to which one must be in good health and top physical condition, since there will always be some unpleasant symptoms due to the reduced amount of oxygen in the air. However, this is generally a temporary sensation, overcome by a 24 to 48 hour rest before making any major physical effort.

Bear in mind that April through October is the dry season, with rains few and far between. One can travel throughout the year, although it will probably rain from November through March.
