Towards the Southwest of Bolivia lies the largest salt desert in the world, the Salar de Uyuni (Uyuni Salt Lake), with a total extension of 10.582 Km2, at a height of 3,653 meters above the sea level.
This semi-deserted region and the surrounding volcanic mountains, exhibit a landscape of extraordinary natural beauty. An additional focus of great attention near the salt mines are the Red, Green, Yellow and Blue Lagoons, all of these bodies of water have names that reflect their own colors.
Also, all throughout the area we can see various glaciers, rock formations of different types, and volcanic craters, which take us back to the time of the Mesozoic era. All along, visitors can also see a number of different towns from various cultures with an array of traditions and customs.
