Recommendations for the Traveller
The months of July through November (dry season) are ideal to visit this site. During the rainy season, the Salt Lake is usually covered with a layer of water, 10 to 15 cm. thick, which makes it impossible to make it across the area.
- Do not enter the Salt desert without a guide.
- There are thermal baths in the area, so it is recommended to consult with your guide if it is safe to go into the water.
- It is essencial to take sun block lotion and sun glasses since the radiation is very strong.
- Take binoculars to watch the flamingos.
- Do not stay too long in the gayser area "Sol de Mañana" because the fumes inhalation can cause nausea and dizziness.
- Do not approach the fumes too closely, always follow the preventive signs.
- Take warm clothing.
- If you travel independently take your precautions and check your departure in the Uyuni Tourism Regional Office and indicate your staying period.
