How to arrive and how to get around?

La Paz-Tiwanaku: there are daily buses, which depart from a bus station located near the city’s main cemetery are. The buses leave every day beginning at 6:00 in the morning.

La Paz-Copacabana: there are daily buses, which depart from a bus station located near the city’s main cemetery area. It is impressive to travel across the Tiquina stretch by boat. Cars are transported across the lake on ferries as well. From the bay of Copacabana, visitors can also take boats that will take them to the islands of the Sun or the Moon. From Sampaya there are also small boats available.

When to go?

The lake can be visited all year long. We recommend bringing some of the following along:

• Plenty of film and video tapes
• Two or three short-sleeved shirts
• A thick winter jacket
• A pair of shorts
• A pair of sandals
• Cotton-light clothing
