The city of Oruro has an important quantity of restaurants that offer, mainly, pottages of the region. The chance to taste international food is not really big, but to tell the truth, you surely will enjoy the local gastronomy.
Two of the traditional dishes of the city of the carnival are the rostro asado (oven baked lamb head) and the mechado (lamb leg stuffed with vegetables cooked on a grill). It is also recommendable to taste the different pottages made of fish (like pejerrey).
As in every city of the highlands, it is recommendable to avoid eating fats and heavy foods in the first days, since the digestion is slower in the height. Following this simple advise, you will be able to enjoy all the flavor of the gastronomic menu of Oruro.
