El Alto international airport, located at 14 kilometers south west of the city, is the main access for the visitors who arrive at La Paz. Airships from the main cities of the planet take off and land everyday at this airport.

The terrestrial road is another important access for tourists from all over the world. Every time, the percentage of travelers that arrive at La Paz by the highways that connect it with the neighboring countries, mainly Peru, is increasing. Puno-Desaguadero-La Paz or Puno-Copacabana-La Paz route is one of the most used ones.
