Villa Rivero or Tiraque

This village is the capital of all the Valleys of Bolivia and it has an endless supply of corn production. Most of the inhabitants of this land are Quechua and Aymara, native people who have inherited several traditions from their ancestors. They still have their traditional outfits, and they are well known for hospitality and charm.

Pairumani

Pairumani is located at 21 kilometers from Cochabamba and it has an average temperature of (19°C). This is one of the most attractive places of the central valleys of the area. In Piarumani there is the “Hacienda” (Farm or house of labor) of Simon I. Patiño, known as the “Great Baron of Tin”. Towards the North of this farm there is pine tree forest and a ravine of pure-crystal clear water, which invites all visitors to go camping. We can still find in this place the old power plant that used to supply electricity to “Villa Albina”.

Toro Toro

The town of Toro Toro is located in a small prairie locked-in, in between two mountains, Huayllas and Condor Khaka. At 138 kilometers from the city of Cochabamba, there are several homes of very rustic aspect, which have a very typical style of architecture from the time of the colony. On July 25, this town celebrates its local holiday, worshipping his Patron Saint, “Tata Santiago” (Grandfather Santiago).

The National Park of Toro Toro has the following attractions:

Huacasenq´a or “El Vergel” (The Orchard), this is a canyon or gorge of 100 meters in depth, which was formed hundreds of years ago by the erosion of the water itself. While descending through one of the sides of the canyon we can observe The Orchard, which also has several figures made of stone that have been formed by the water falls, the figures, almost sculptures, are covered with moss and lichens.

The place also has several natural pits filled with crystalline water, and depending on the season, these natural attractions often become heavily populated pools.

Umajalanta Caverns, Quechua word which means “the waterthat vanishes in the depths of the earth”. Inside of these caverns there are several stalagmites and stalactites; that according to the shape that they may have, have received names such as “Sala de la Virgen” (Virgin’s Chamber) and “El Niño” (The Child), “Sala de Conciertos” (Concert Hall), “Sala de Inspiraciones” (Inspirations Room) and other interesting names. Also, in these caves we can find small ponds that have a rare species of blind fish.

Chillijusk´o Caverns, Quechua word which means “small hole”. These caverns are at about 500 meters from town. This is actually a very dangerous cavern, mostly because there is an complicated maze of caverns, galleries and narrow halls. To go through these caves, it is imperative to go accompanied by expert tour guides.

Llama Chaqui Ruins, this is a site that has an unknown origin, even though it is believed that it was part of the Inca’s culture. The ruins have been classified as Pucaras, Collcas or silos used for storage.

Dinosaur Tracks, these could be found all around the prairies of Toro Toro. These are petrified dinosaur tracks or footprints; we can find tracks of various prehistoric reptiles, such as: brontosaurus and tyrannosaurus, creatures which inhabited the earth 150 million years ago.

Rupestrian paintings, these paintings could be found on the margins of the Toro Toro River and they serve as proof of cultures from the Lithic era, classified as paintings from the pre-cambric Andean period or the pre-formative period. According to recent research, these paintings were used as a means of communication, which was developed by nomad cultures from the pre-historic era.

Tarata

Is a town located at 35 kilometers from the city, it has a moderate climate (22°C). And the actual division of the city is unique. In the town of Tarata there are several cultural manifestations intended to recreate historical moments from the time prior to the colony, to the time of the colony and the republican period.

Some of the main attractions of Tarata include: The “Casa Consistorial” (Consistorial Home), the Church of San Pedro, the Convent of San Jose, the Governmental Palace of the Ex-president General Melgarejo and the festivities of the Holy Patron of Tarata and San Severino, events which are usually carried out towards the end of November.

Cliza

Cliza is a city that was founded by the Spaniards, in accordance to the “Ley de Indias” (Indies Law). Its streets, which resemble long tangles twine that seems to sliders through the homes, are divided into squared blocks and distributed into delicate streets which surround the “Plaza Principal” (Main Square) or “Plaza de Armas” (Arms Main Square).

Cliza is a small town which has preserved its history and heritage. It has a traditional fair on Sundays, with an enormous variety of typical dishes and drinks (“Pichon” (Squab) and “Chicha from Cliza” (Fermented drink made of corn)) make this a perfect stage to get in touch with some the most colorful traditions of this town. This town is located at 35 kilometers from the city of Cochabamba and it has a moderate climate (25°C)
